Erythrokeratodermia variabilis: successful palliative treatment with acitretin.

چکیده
Sir, Erythrokeratodermia variabilis (EKV) is a rare autosomal dominant genodermatosis which is characterized by the coexistence of hyperkeratotic plaques and transient erythematous patches. Irregular, variably shaped erythematous macular patches may enlarge or regress over time. Concurrently, there are persistent, well-demarcated, geographic, hyperkeratotic plaques which are distributed on the face, extensor surfaces, buttocks, trunk, and extremities. [1-3] A few clinicians have previously reported that acitretin treatment is effective.

Biochemical Analysis of Anabaena variabilis Exposed to Malathion Pesticide with Special Reference to Oxidative Stress and Osmolytes
Cyanobacteria contribute significantly to the maintenance of flooded rice field fertility. In this investigation, the protective effect of osmolytes and antioxidative enzymes was studied on the paddy field cyanobacterial biofertilizer; Anabaena variabilis exposed to Malathion pesticide. With increasing concentration of malathion the test organism showed increased free radical mediated toxicity....
متن کاملEffect of different nitrogen sources on the cellular form of Trigonopsis variabilis.
Triangular cells are formed during early logarithmic growth of Trigonopsis variabilis. Good triangularity is obtained with methionine, proline, hydroxyproline, or alanine as a nitrogen source.
متن کاملHigh-affinity vanadate transport system in the cyanobacterium Anabaena variabilis ATCC 29413.
High-affinity vanadate transport systems have not heretofore been identified in any organism. Anabaena variabilis, which can fix nitrogen by using an alternative V-dependent nitrogenase, transported vanadate well. The concentration of vanadate giving half-maximum V-nitrogenase activity when added to V-starved cells was about 3 x 10(-9) M. The genes for an ABC-type vanadate transport system, vup...
متن کاملFunctional characterization and novel rickettsiostatic effects of a Kunitz-type serine protease inhibitor from the tick Dermacentor variabilis.
Here we report the novel bacteriostatic function of a five-domain Kunitz-type serine protease inhibitor (KPI) from the tick Dermacentor variabilis. As ticks feed, they release anticoagulants, anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive molecules that mediate the formation of the feeding lesion on the mammalian host. A number of KPIs have been isolated and characterized from tick salivary gland extr...
